I was having the same problem and solved it by purchasing a second  168RC giving me another 8 analog inputs and connecting the 2 with  lightpipe and it works great. I see used 168's at $450-$999 all  the time. To use an ADAT's ADC it's set:  Analog in; Digital out; 48k ext. LX20 that is.
